Print: The Ultimate Mobile Communication
The MD’s blog of last week got me thinking. Nigel pondered: If you think about it, a newspaper or magazine is the ultimate in mobile communication – needing no Wi-Fi or 3G/4G signal to download, no special equipment to view and no fear of the battery running out! What a plain-speaking stonker of a statement! Cogent, self evident, and often forgotten in this digital age. The dominance of digital marketing has consequently positioned print media as the non-traditional format, and this now presents a great... Read The Rest →
Printed publications continue to pack a punch find IoIC awards judges
Invited to judge a couple of magazine categories at the national IoIC awards, CW MD Nigel finds print to be alive, kicking and as effective as ever. Not a lot of people know this, but I used to be a bit of an amateur thespian. We are going back quite a few years it’s true, but I particularly enjoyed a show my am dram group put on when I performed a Peter Cook sketch from the famous Beyond the Fringe review also featuring Dudley Moore, Jonathan Miller and Alan... Road testing an idea in the line of duty
A politician on the cover just ensures the magazine goes straight to recycling. That pithy comment from a reader reinforced what we’d long known, but it certainly helps to have it confirmed in a focus group. We were sampling the views of the readers of First Voice – the Federation of Small Businesses’ flagship publication. We’ve made it our policy always to feature a member on the front. After all, it’s a magazine about members, for members, and focusing on the issues that concern them. One of the issues exercising large... Read The Rest →
The human side in a hard-hitting business story
Recent research by Bacs – the automated bank payment scheme – reveals that at any one time, over a million small businesses in the UK are waiting for payment for goods or services, and that the collective debt stands at a staggering £30.2 billion. Late payments have a crippling affect on small businesses, who frequently find that larger companies simply impose their own payment terms. According to the research, smaller firms are forced to wait an average eight weeks after bills are due, yet feel they cannot make a stand... Read The Rest →
